UVU ASL & Deaf Studies Program

Exhibitor Application Form (PDF)

Deaf Studies Today! is soliciting businesses and organizations to exhibit their products or services at the conference April 10-12, 2008 at Utah Valley State College, 35 miles south of Salt Lake City, Utah. We invite you to look over our information and see how your business or organization can benefit from being involved with Deaf Studies Today!

As explained elsewhere on the web site, Deaf Studies Today! is a professional, academic conference aimed at bringing together the brightest minds and latest thinking within the interdisciplinary field of Deaf Studies. The theme for the 2008 conference is "Montage" suggesting the interdisciplinary nature of both Deaf Studies as a field and of the Deaf-World which it studies.

The 2008 conference will be an excellent opportunity for vendors and exhibitors for a number of reasons:

The Expo is held in the commons area of the Sorenson Student Center. This is the central gathering place for conference activities as participants must pass directly through this area to enter the Grand Ballroom where most of the general events are held. Furthermore, the Commons is open to anyone who wishes to visit, regardless of their registration status for the campus. In past years, we have seen large numbers of local Deaf people, school groups, and ASL & Deaf Studies students come to see the expo. The Commons is immediately adjacent to the main entrance to the UVSC Students center, so passersby see the conference. With over 400 ASL & Deaf Studies students and many more who have already taken ASL on campus, the expo site sees constant activity.

Exhibitors at the 2004 conference (some of whom were skeptical as to whether coming would be worthwhile to them) assured their ongoing participation once they saw the large numbers of people who constantly visited the various exhibits. One exhibitor who has traveled the country promoting his business said that the conference was "Exhibitor Heaven."

Finally, organizations and individuals who support the conference as sponsors often receive special considerations for exhibiting. These considerations include free exhibition space and first choice of prime locations among other benefits. Get more information on becoming a sponsor here.
