Attendee Information

Professional Critiques: SCBWI will be offering professional manuscript critiques for an additional $35 fee. Manuscripts will be assigned to professional authors or the editor according to age level and genre. You MUST be registered for the conference in order to participate. Please submit up to 10 pages of a manuscript or a 3,000-word picture book dummy, a synopsis (for longer works), a list of four questions you have about your manuscript, and a cover sheet with your name, email or phone, and manuscript title. First Pages: This is a professional critique of the first page of your work.
Open to: the first 35 registered attendees
Type: Picture book, novel, nonfiction, cover letter, query letter, or synopsis
Format: Standard manuscript style -- style consists of 1" margins, double-spaced, 12-point font, white paper. NOTE: Submissions not following requirements cannot be accepted.
Please include the title and type of manuscript. You may include your name or leave it off.
Length: The FIRST page of a manuscript. (up to 250 words). All submissions must be in by March 9, 2007

Peer Critiques: This will be a session held during the conference. Please bring 5 copies of your first 500 words of picture book, novel, synopsis, or cover letter to be critiqued by your peers.

The Gallery of Illustration: Returning this year, The Gallery of Illustration has become a very popular part of the Forum on Children's Literature. If you are interested in showing your artwork, networking with other illustrators, this is the event for you. There will be an Editor's Choice Award, Illustrator Faculty Award, and Attendees Choice Award.

With a paid conference registration and an additional registration fee of $15, illustrators can expose their work to those in the children's book market and illustrators fields. Copies of the artwork must be mounted flat to a surface measuring no more than 18"w X 24"h. Contact smeidell@burgoyne.com with "UVU Forum Gallery" in the subject line for further information.

Accommodations may be arranged with La Quinta Inn (801) 226-0440 or Hampton Inn (801) 426-8500. We have negotiated a discounted room rate at the Hampton Inn. If you would like to stay there, please call their number and reference the UVU rate. All hotels are located across the street from the school.
