UVU Concurrent Enrollment - Withdrawal and Dropping Procedures

Following is the policy for the assignment of grades for students who withdraw/drop from a Concurrent Enrollment class. The corresponding dates for each semester will be posted on the Concurrent Enrollment website. This information is provided for teachers, counselors, and site coordinators to advise students in selecting and changing class schedules.
The State Board of Education has stated that all grades earned from classes taken concurrently on any high school campus--including Concurrent Enrollment, Distance Education, and High School Center classes--will be recorded on high school schedules and transcripts. Therefore, these grades will be considered for extra-curricular activities, scholarships, academic standing, etc. If a student elects to take a college class at the college campus and subsequently pays tuition, then the student may choose whether or not to submit the grade to the high school to be recorded on the high school transcript.
The state will not fund a class retake. This applies to Concurrent Enrollment, Distance Education, and High School Center classes.
If a student withdraws properly, by the determined deadline, the student will receive a "W" on the college transcript. If this is a Distance Education or High School Center class, no grade will show on the high school transcript. The student may then retake this course concurrently at no additional tuition charge.
If a student does not withdraw properly, by the determined deadline, the student will receive a "UW" on the college transcript. The "UW" mark equals a 0.0 grade point. If this is a Distance Education or High School Center class, then a failing grade will show on the high school transcript. The student may not retake the class concurrently at the high school campus. The student may retake the class as an early college student at the college campus, paying full college tuition.
A student who is enrolled and does not meet the passing grade requirement will receive an "E" on the college transcript. An "E" grade equals a 0.0 grade point. If this is a Distance Education or High School Center class, then an "F" will show on the high school transcript. The student may not retake the class concurrently at the high school campus. The student may retake the class as an early college student at the college campus, paying full college tuition.
A 3.0 GPA is required for students to participate in Concurrent Enrollment; a 2.0 for CTE classes. A student must maintain a 2.0 GPA to be in good standing with UVU.
Extra-curricular activities, high school graduation, scholarships, financial aid, and approval for certain courses/programs may be affected by poor grades.

Marks For Dropped Semester Classes

Days of Semester = days high school is in session

1 - 20 Days of Semester	Considered not enrolled in class	Nothing shows on college transcript.
21 - 30 Days of Semester	Considered an official withdrawal	"W" shows on college transcript.
31+ Days of Semester	Considered an unofficial withdrawal	"UW" shows on college transcript. If a Distance Education or Center class, an "F" grade shows on high school transcript. In certain circumstances, an exception may be granted by the high school district. Student must contact the appropriate district personnel to discuss waiving a "UW" grade. The district will communicate their decision with the Concurrent Enrollment office.

The district will communicate their decision with the Concurrent Enrollment office.
