What do I need to know about quizzes and exams?
Quizzes
Upon logging in to the UVU Driver Education course, a pre-quiz must be taken. Students must pass this quiz with a score of 100%. It includes basic information and reminders of required completion dates. If not passed by the fourth attempt, please call UVU in order to reset the course. Once the pre-quiz is successfully completed, all other materials will become available.
Read all course information, syllabus, schedule, and lesson 1; then complete Quiz 1. This quiz must be done within 7 days after the confirmation email has been sent. If it has not been completed within 7 days, a reminder email will be sent.
All quizzes must be passed with a score of 18 or higher. If scores are 17 or lower, advancement to the next quiz will not be possible. Please retake the quiz until a score of at least 18 has been received.
Practice and Final exams
The practice exam has 100 questions and must be passed with a score of 80% or higher in order to advance to the final. We recommend taking the practice exam enough times to be completely comfortable with the material. Students are more likely to pass the final exam if they have received a score between 90%-100% on the practice exam. Please take the time to know the information well.
The final exam has 100 questions and IS a part of the Internet Course. It must be completed within the 60 days or an extension fee will be charged. The exam is password protected; therefore, it must be taken at an A-1 Driving School location. Please call A-1 Driving School to make your appointment within your 60 day time limit. This exam must be passed with a score of 80% or higher. The test may only be taken three times. After the third time failing students will be required to repeat the course.
Permit exam
You must have a learner's permit in order to be able to drive with an A-1 Driving School instructor. In order to obtain a permit, go to the DMV and take a 50 question test based on information from the Utah Driver's Handbook. This test may be taken at any time. The online portion of the course does not need to be finished in order to take it. Please take the following with you:
Certified Birth Certificate
Social Security Card
$15.00
Eye glasses or medical information
If student is under the age of 18, parent needs to provide proof of being a Utah Resident.
If student is over the age of 18, you are required to show proof of being a Utah Resident.
Driving exam
This exam may be taken through A-1 Driving School or at the DMV once all driving requirements are completed. Please check with a driver instructor for more information about this exam.
What if my video links or Quicktime are not working?
If video links are not working there may be a few reasons.
You may have a pop-up blocker turned on. There are pop ups involved in bringing up the videos. This must be turned off in order to run the course. In order to accomplish this, go to your internet web browser, click Tools, click pop-up blockers, and then click turn off pop-up blockers.
If using a Mac computer, please contact UVU Driver Education so we can help set the course up on the computer.
If using the most recent version of Quicktime, students may need to change some of the settings. Please complete the following instructions:
- Click on Start -> Programs -> QuickTime
- Choose Edit from the top menu
- Click on Preferences -> QuickTime Preferences
- Click on the Advanced tab in the Transport Setup drop down menu
- Choose Custom
- In the new window that pops up, choose HTTP in the Transport Protocol drop down menu
- Make sure the Port ID is set to 80
- Click Apply
- Click OK
How do I get an extension or refund?
Seven day extensions can be awarded if the 60 days are up and the student still needs to complete the course. There is a fee for each 7 day extension awarded. The fee schedule is based on how many days the student has been enrolled in the program and is as follows:
60-90 days - $25
90-120 days - $50
120 + days - $100
Please call UVU Driver Education at 1-801-863-7333 to obtain your extension.
A refund can be obtained if the student has been in the program less than 30 days. A $25 administrative fee will be assessed for all refunds. In order to receive the refund, fill out the Refund Form and mail or fax to UVU Driver Education. A refund will be processed within 2-3 weeks.
