Warning
The Clothesline Project is a visual display dedicated to raising awareness about the reality of violence in our society. It is composed of t-shirts created by survivors of violent attacks; each t-shirt reflects the personal experience of its creator. Occasionally these shirt designs include swear words, explicit violent or sexual descriptions of the attack, or other statements that reflect the emotions and reality the individual experienced. We do not censor their comments. We exist to support and encourage survivors in their healing process and their efforts to help others understand the horrors of abuse. While the t-shirts can be disturbing, imagine how much more difficult it is to live the reality they represent. Hopefully this will motivate you to act. Ending the epidemic of violence is our goal. Please be sure to discuss these issues with your children if you choose to allow them to participate in this display.
Yes No
We urge all people to unite in an effort to end violence in our communities by 1) breaking the silence surrounding violent attacks, 2) reaching out to support and encourage survivors with their recovery process, 3) holding perpetrators accountable for their actions, 4) committing that we will not condone or participate in violence, 5) becoming involved in the effort to create a safer world.
