Math Summit for Area High School and UVU Faculty
OREM - UVU Conferences & Workshops is sponsoring the Utah Valley University Math Summit on Tuesday, June 19, 2007 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a continental breakfast and lunch provided for all attendees. There is no charge to attend the Summit, but pre-registration is required.
The goal of the Math Summit is to achieve a more seamless transition from public education to higher education by bringing faculty and administrators from area high schools together with faculty and administrators from UVU to discuss student success in mathematics.
The Math Summit is specifically designed for math faculty who teach Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-calculus. In order to better determine the current alignment of math course content within the Utah educational system, faculty are asked to bring textbooks and syllabi for their courses (Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Pre-calculus for USOE; Math 990, Math 1010, and Math 1050 for USHE) and come ready to discuss the objectives and content of those courses.
Diana Suddreth, USOE Secondary Mathematics Specialist, will present the latest proposed changes to the state math core and attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback regarding the proposed changes.
For more information or to pre-register for the Math Summit contact UVU Conferences & Workshops at 801-863-8894.
