UVU Community Education Helps Students Become Computer Savvy

OREM, UTAH- UVU Community Education students can learn computer skills that only the pros know. Two new computer classes are being offered this fall during October and November through the non-profit partnership between Utah Valley University and Alpine School District.

Sound Editing for Beginners is a new class where students learn how to record, edit and import sound. A personal computer has everything needed for the course except an inexpensive cable to attach a cassette recorder to the computer. Students will be copying old recordings from a tape recorder to their computer to create or record an oral history and how to use a Digital Voice Recorder. Classes are held Thursdays, October 18th and the 25th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at UVU.

In the Photoshop Elements course, students will learn to do more and get more creative with photographic images. The course will explore more of the tools, enhancements and features that make Photoshop Elements such a powerful-yet easy-photo editing program. Classes start Tuesdays, October 16th to November 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at UVU.

Registrations are currently being taken and class sizes are limited. For more information or to register for a class, please call Sally Menefee or visit ce.uvsc.edu/commed online.
