COMET was designed to grow in stages. The user guide will be updated regularly to cover added features and improvements. Click here to view or download the user guide. Here are the planned stages of development:
- Stage One is intended to serve the needs of faculty, department chairs, advisory committees, school curriculum committees, and deans. Complete!
- Stage Two will expand the same services to include the college curriculum committee, the dean’s council, and the VPAA. Complete!
- Stage Three will go further to include the Board of Trustees, the State Board of Regents, and curriculum implementation. Complete!
- Stage Four will introduce a curriculum planning function.
What does COMET do?
- Stores all course and program curriculum information in a relational database
- Ensures uniformity
- Makes curriculum information easily accessible
- Improves communication and coordination between departments and schools
- Utilizes an online format for processing curriculum changes through the approval process
- Provides personalized tasks lists for users based on their role in the curriculum process
- Tracks coordination efforts and comments relative to each proposal
- Ensures curriculum is processed in accordance with approved policy and accreditation standards
