Welcome to State Legislative Process, a television course designed to increase one's understanding and appreciation of the state legislative system. The course explores concepts of legislative theory and examines the basic structure, functions, powers, and roles of the state legislatures; with special attention being given to the Utah State Legislature.
William A. Sederburg, Ph.D.
William A. Sederburg, president of Utah Valley State College, has spent much of his time in the pursuit of excellence in education. Born in Nebraska but raised in Minnesota, President Sederburg began his academic journey by obtaining his own education: a bachelor's degree in education and political science from Mankato State University in Minnesota and a master's degree and doctorate both in political science from Michigan State University. He made Michigan his home for quite some time after that, serving in the state Senate and in various education capacities during a 20-year period.
Rick A. Griffin, J.D., Ph.D.
Dr. Rick A. Griffin received his Ph.D. from Brigham Young University and his Juris Doctor from the University of Mississippi. He has taught at Brigham Young University and Utah Valley State College. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Utah Valley State College, where he teaches courses in public law (e.g., State Legislative Process, Introduction to Law & Politics, U.S. Constitution, and Foundations of American Constitutionalism). Dr. Griffin has won three teaching awards at Utah Valley State College and has presented and published on issues relating to law and government, constitutional law, education law, civil rights of individuals with disabilities, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
