CASE STUDY- COUNTRY CLUB MANAGER

Facts:

Exclusive Country Club in Easter

-         $30,000 to join, $200 a month maintenance fee

President of the club is elected for a 2-year period

-         In the sixth month of his term

Club Manger, recent graduate from college

-         2,000 miles from home

-         Married with two children

-         Been on the job for 4-months

New Club Manager is approached by the President and informed that he would like to have the club cater his daughter's wedding reception. He desires it to be better than any of the others that the club has catered. His wife will contact the manager concerning the details. Manger meets with wife and prices out the function, which totals, $22,000.

Manager presents the proposal to the President, at which time the President says to the young club Manager, "I am sure you can sharpen your pencil; the figure I had in mind was $10,000. I am sure that you'll find a way to continue to enjoy having the title of Club Manager."
