Air Conditioning and
Refrigeration Technology
You are a program coordinator in the school of Trades, Technology, and Industry and as such you maintain contact with prospective employers to hire your students as they graduate from your program.
Each year you receive a call from the owner of a large refrigeration service company located in Salt Lake City. He normally wants to interview the "top" one or two students who are graduating from your program. He has been a member of your program's Advisory Committee in the past but is no longer serving there.
Having worked for this employer yourself upon graduation from UVCC in 1970, you know that these employees will most likely be exploited and treated unfairly if hired by this company. On the other hand this company works on a wide variety of equipment and you know that if hired, these employees would get some very valuable on-the-job experience that they may not get elsewhere.
Questions:
When your students ask you about this company and the job opportunities available, what would you tell them?
Should you talk to the owner of the business?
