Faculty Senate Meeting

April 24, 2001

SC117 3:00 - 4:30 p.m.

Attendance: Attendance not taken

Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Ron Hammond at 3:05 p.m.

Presentation of Senate meeting minutes from 4/10/01: Minutes were presented, no changes made.

Information Items:

Post Tenure Review - K. D. Taylor passed out a document for senators to look over and review for the next Senate meeting in September. He will be at the meeting on September 11th to answer questions regarding post-tenure review.

Distribution of binders to new senators - Sandy Vogel and LeeAnn Asay passed out Faculty Senate binders to the new senators present at this meeting.

Welcome & Introduction of new senators - Grant Richards welcomed the new senators.

New Associate Dean for LEC - it was announced that K.D. Taylor is the new Associate Dean for the LEC. She will be stepping down as the Chair for the Tenure Committee. Forrest Williams mentioned that it is important to fill this position as soon as possible. The new Chair will need to be a member of the Faculty Senate and also be a tenured faculty.

Action Items:

New committee chairs - Laurie Wood nominated Hugh Rode for tenure chair. The nomination was seconded. Karin Davidson was nominated to be chair of the tenure committee. The nomination was seconded.

Senate Awards - Recognition was given to retiring senators and committee chairs, Ernie Carey, Damon Bahr, and Lowell Glenn.

Lifetime Achievement Award - Larry Marsing was presented with the Faculty Senate Lifetime Achievement Award by Ron Hammond.

Goodbye & Thank you to retiring Executive Committee members - Ron thanked Grant Richards and Sandy Vogel for all of their hard work and commitment to the Faculty Senate.
