Call to Order: Ron Hammond called the meeting to order at 3:04 p.m.
Presentation of Minutes from 9/12/00 & 9/26/00: Minutes were presented.
Information Items:
Sick Leave/Vacation Conversion Policy - It was decided that this would be an action item at
the next meeting.
Professional/Administrative Employee Compensation - TRM is going to be taken out of the
policy because it created a slow evaluation process. Senators were asked to look at the policy and
then take it back to their department, discuss it at length and then come back ready to make it an
action item at the next senate meeting. This is a priority 2 policy.
Action Items:
Constitutional Revision of Bylaws - see attachment for actual changes to
bylaws.
Section vii - Laurie Wood moved that the section be passed with changes. Phil Gordon seconded
the motion and voting was unanimous. The section passed with changes.
Section viii - Laurie Wood moved that the section be passed with the discussed changes. Phil
Gordon seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and the section passed with changes.
Section x - Tom Perkins moved that the section be passed with changes. Forrest Williams
seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and the section passed with changes.
Section xi - Forrest Williams moved that the section be passed with changes. David Manning
seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and the section passed with changes.
Section xii - David Manning moved that the section be passed with changes. Eldon Greenhalgh
seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and the section passed with changes.
Section i - amendments were made to section i. Larry Holt moved that the section be passed with
changes. Denza Bruss seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous and the section passed with
changes.
Section ix - a motion was made by Joe Strange that discussion about section ix not exceed 15
minutes. Paul Bean seconded the motion. Voting was unanimous. Senators were asked to study
the handout they were given with different ideas on representation in the senate. They were
instructed to come back to the next senate meeting with ideas from their departments. Ron stated the following: "The executive committee would like to emphasize that we feel that no change has to be made at this tiime in the way senators are represented in the senate. Some have accused us of shoving this down the throats of senators. The senators bear the burden of choosing the best course of action and should look carefully at this packet, discuss it with their faculty, and come back prepared to deal with it as an action item next meeting."
