He asked faculty to be as supportive of the students= participation as possible. He also talked about the budget and let the senators know the news was bad. The state is $202 million short of what they thought they would have this year. He predicted a 0% increase in compensation; it will be a difficult year for the whole state.

Holiday Social - Connie Reynolds encouraged all the faculty to come to the holiday social and assured them that the date was not meant to exclude faculty from attending.

Room change for next meeting - Ron reminded the senators that the next meeting (January 8, 2002) will be held in SC270.

Discussion of post-tenure review policy with new modifications - There was no comment other than Brian Birch=s new document with the desired changes. The senate will set aside a meeting devoted wholly to this policy.

Proposed amendment to Human Resources Policy C-5.2: There was an extended discussion by the senators regarding this policy and the suggested changes John Balden=s committee came up with. The majority of the senators were opposed to the changes presented and felt there were more fundamental issues that needed to be addressed with regard to retention and recruitment. President Romesburg explained that when the college gets an equity increase, the money has to be used in the way the legislators intend it to be used. John asked the senators to please e-mail him with any suggestions they may have to make the policy acceptable.

Curriculum Committee - Joe Strange let the senate know that the first A5000" level classes were passed by his committee.
