This guide contains information about the different programs available and how to apply.
We offer a comprehensive and varied program of financial assistance including grants, loans, work and scholarships. The purpose of financial aid is to help eligible students bridge the gap between what they and their families can be expected to pay and what it will cost to attend college.
Financial aid is awarded on the basis of need and other eligibility criteria established by Federal and Institutional regulation and policy. All such regulations and policies are subject to change without notice. There is no discrimination because of race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, pregnancy-related condition, handicap, or status as a veteran.
BASIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
You must meet certain requirements to be eligible for financial assistance:
- You must be admitted in a degree seeking program.
- You must be in good academic standing.
- You must be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen.
- You must show compliance, if required, that you meet Selective Service registration requirements.
- You must not be in default on any Title IV loan or owe a refund on any grant made under a Title IV program.
WARNING: If you receive aid and withdraw from school, you will owe money back! Always see a Financial Aid Counselor before dropping classes.
APPLICATION PROCESS All application materials for financial aid and scholarships are available on-line. Click here to begin. We will also link you to other useful and required sites.
Get your UVLink email account NOW and check it often! All correspondence from Financial Aid & Scholarships, including your award notice, will be sent to your UVLink email account.
On-line application is faster and more accurate than paper. If you need assistance with the application process, please contact the Financial Aid & Scholarships Office. We recommend you use the Pre-Application Worksheet at http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ before completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) on-line.
We strongly encourage you (and your parents) to get a PIN at http://www.pin.ed.gov/. A PIN allows you to sign your FAFSA application on-line, view results, make changes and more. Don’t wait...do it now!
FAFSA TIPS
- Report your name exactly as it appears on your social security card.
- Verify your birth date. Many students report the current year in error.
- Apply early! Some funds are limited to applicants who meet the May 1 deadline only.
DEADLINES
Your FAFSA should be sent to the Federal Processor 10 weeks before the deadline you want to meet. For example: it should be sent by February 20 to meet the May 1 deadline. The correct results of your FAFSA, the Institutional Student Information Report (ISIR), must be received by UVSC by the deadline.|

To have Financial Aid by the payment deadline the following items must be accurate, complete and received in the Financial Aid Office by the 1st Priority Deadline: 1) FAFSA; 2) UVSC Data Form; 3) Verification documentation if selected; 4) Loan Counseling; and all other requested documents. |

AFTER YOU ARE AWARDED
Financial Aid awarded to you will be credited to your account at the school.
Any remaining balance after tuition and fees are paid will be mailed to you or sent electronic funds transfer (EFT) to your bank account (if you have signed up for direct deposit). |
