Steps to Financial Aid - for Aviation Students
Federal Financial Aid consists of several options. When you apply for aid using the FAFSA, you are applying for all Title IV grants and loans. This application can take time, so apply early.
To have assistance available when classes begin, all application materials must be submitted and corrected by the first priority deadline.

Applications may still be submitted after the deadline, but be prepared to pay your own tuition and fees. If you are eligible, you may be reimbursed some time later.
Private alternative loans to help with costs associated with flight classes are available as well. See step #7.

FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid)
The FAFSA should be sent to the federal processor 10 weeks before the deadline you want to meet. UVSC School Code: 004027. Make sure you complete the correct application for the year you are applying for (2007-2008 or 2008-2009).

AVIATION INFORMATION FORM
Download a 2007-2008 Aviation Information Form or the 2008-2009 Aviation Information Form. Print the form, fill it out and FAX it to (801) 863-8448.

| 5 | VERIFICATION WORKSHEET When you receive your Student Aid Report from FAFSA, check to see if everything is correct. If there are mistakes, correct them online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Look to see if you are selected for verification (this has nothing to do with the amount you will be awarded). If you have been selected, you will need to submit a verification worksheet for the appropriate school year and dependency status. Dependent Students: You will also need to submit a copy of your and your parent(s)' signed taxes that you used to complete the FAFSA (2006 taxes for the 07-08 school year or 2007 taxes for the 08-09 school year). Independent Students: You will also need to submit a signed copy of your taxes (and your spouse's signed taxes if you are married) that you used to complete the FAFSA (2006 taxes for the 07-08 school year or 2007 taxes for the 08-09 school year). If you have not been selected, wait for a Financial Aid Award Notification (FAN) to be emailed to you. |

ACCEPT LOANS OR GRANTS
Accept, reject, or change your award when you receive your "Financial Aid Award Notification" (FAN)through your UVLink account. To check your award, click on "Financial Aid Menu" and then select "My Awards."
After you have accepted your Stafford loan(s), it may be necessary to sign a Master Promissory Note (MPN) with your loan guarantor if you have not previously done so. NOTE: For the 2007-2008 school year, you will need to complete Loan Counseling before any Stafford loans can be disbursed. |

ALTERNATIVE LOANS
The Federal Financial Aid you receive may not cover the entire costs associated with your education. You may apply for alternative loans to the maximum amount of your UVU cost of attendance. After your Aviation Information Form has been processed, you can view your cost of attendance in your UVLink account.

| 8 | SCHOLARSHIPS
Local students (flying at UVSC - Provo) should visit the UVSC Scholarships website here.
Global students may apply for the Roger L. Vincent Scholarship through the Scholarship Office. Click here to apply. This scholarship will be available starting for the 08-09 school year. Please make sure you select "Privately Funded" on the scholarship application. Note: Scholarship applications must be completed through your UVLink account. If you have scholarship application questions, please contact Scholarships at 801-863-8443. There are other sources of outside scholarships available. Although not affiliated with UVSC, the following websites offer scholarship searches that you may find helpful.
