E-mail Firewall Important Information
The UVSC e-mail firewall was installed so that users can control their own SPAM filtering and increase its reliability.  In order for the e-mail firewall to work properly, users should use the e-mails from the Quarantine to go in and categorize and retreive e-mail.  You should always categorize the e-mail as SPAM or NOT SPAM to help the filter learn what SPAM is to you.  E-mail classified as SPAM is deleted and e-mail classified as NOT SPAM is delivered.  Deliver and Delete should only be used if you are not sure whether something is SPAM or not and want to decide later.  Preferences allow you to fine tune your SPAM settings.   You may Blacklist or Whitelist any addresses that you desire.  Blacklist blocks all e-mail from an address and Whitelist allows all e-mail from an address.  You may even turn off SPAM filtering entirely for your account but this is not recommended since over 70% of incoming e-mail is confirmed SPAM.  To learn more see www.uvsc.edu/email for the user guide or call or e-mail the IT helpdesk
