Printing

What to do if you can't print to a network printer

Point to start settings and printers. This will open up the print window. Right click on the printer that won't print and make sure that use printer offline is not checked.

Go into the properties of the printer by right clicking on the printer icon that won't print and choosing properties. Click on the details tab and make sure that you are capturing either the lpt2 or lpt3 port. The name of the printer should be listed in the long name after the port number.

If it says lpt1 you need to change it to either lpt2 or lpt3 by clicking on the down arrow and highlighting the port. Click on the apply button and then go back to the general tab and click on print test page to see if it will print now.

If it still won't print find the printer that you are printing to and look to see if the network cable is plugged into the back of the printer or into a jet direct box. After finding where the network cable is plugged in turn the printer off, unplug the network cable and then plug the cable back in and turn it back on.

Try printing a test page from your computer one more time. If it still doesn't print reboot your computer, log into the Novell client and try printing one more time.
