Can I tell how many students have submitted
their survey during the evaluation period?
You can check
student response rates in our current SRI tool throughout the survey period by
clicking on the “Evaluation Results” link in UVLink and then viewing your
“faculty detail schedule”. Back
to Top
When can I see the actual survey results?
You will not be able
to see any actual survey results until all
grades are submitted for a class.
Once all of your grades are submitted, you can see results in our current
system using the same steps described above to view response rates. Back to Top
What information is included in the survey
results?
The number of
students responding, and response breakdowns are provided for each question on
the survey, by class section. You will
also be able to see summary information for each of the three demographic
questions in the current survey. Back to Top
What information is NOT included in the
survey results?
As has been the case
in the past, the survey is anonymous, and you will not be able to tell whether
particular students have submitted surveys or not. Back to Top
When can students complete SRIs?
The current SRI is
open now (April 1, 2008) through midnight, Sunday, April 20th for
Spring semester classes. The IDEA pilot
is also open for the same period of time.

Will students be reminded to participate in
SRIs, in addition to my own reminders and incentives?
Students will
receive an e-mail in their UVLink account regarding the current SRI, and
additional messages if they have been selected for the IDEA pilot.
Additional messaging
will appear in UVLink and the IT web pages.
We have also requested a message on the UVSC home web page.
IDEA pilot
participants will receive a reminder e-mail every three days throughout the
survey period until they have completed the survey. Back to Top
What classes will be included in the IDEA
pilot?
The IDEA survey
pilot has been populated with at least one class section for each instructor
that is teaching a class this semester, excluding high school concurrent
enrollment courses. If you submitted a
preferred class section for the IDEA pilot, that section was used. If you did not, a section was selected
randomly for you. In addition, if a
curriculum cross-listed class section was selected either by you or randomly,
we have also included the other cross-listed sections in that group for the
pilot. Back to Top
How will students know they need to fill
out the IDEA survey, rather than the regular SRI?
Students who are
currently registered for a class that has been selected for the pilot will
receive an initial e-mail with instructions as to how to fill out the
evaluation for each class, in their UVLink e-mail account. Back to Top
Were IDEA pilot classes excluded from the
current SRI tool?
No. Due to time constraints, the pilot classes
were not excluded from the current SRI tool.
Can I find out which class I’m teaching was
selected for the pilot?
You can send an
e-mail to Laura Busby (busbyla@uvsc.edu)
with your UV ID number and she will respond with the class that was included in
the pilot. Back to Top
Why am I being asked through an e-mail to
fill out a Faculty Information Form?
The IDEA survey
instrument requires that you provide information about the selected
course. This information is included in
analysis of the survey results. Back to Top
Why can’t I add questions to the IDEA
Faculty Information Form to be included in my students’ survey?
We have eliminated
this option for the pilot. Back

How can I encourage students to participate
in the SRI process or the IDEA pilot?
The effectiveness of
the SRI system is largely founded on an instructor’s support of that system
with their students as a way to provide feedback. Continued reminders and encouragement in
class can go a long way to increasing the response rate for your SRIs. E-mail reminders can be sent using your
course list as well. If you have course
content within Blackboard Vista or Moodle, you can use those tools to
communicate with your students about SRIs as well. Some instructors choose to provide extra
credit if a student completes the SRI.
If your class meets
in a computer lab, you can allot time in class for students to complete their
SRIs online. Back to Top
If I offer extra credit for completion of
the survey, how can the student prove their participation?
Because the survey
is anonymous, and we have not developed a confirmation page for our current SRI
system yet, we have identified a work-around so that you can confirm the
student has earned the extra credit incentive.
Students have been instructed to print out their detailed class list
from UVLink, after they have completed the survey and present that to you as
proof of participation. The link to take
the survey appears next to “Course Evaluation” before they take the
survey. If they have taken the survey for
a class, the link disappears.
More information on
how a student can show participation in the IDEA survey will be included in
this document as soon as possible. The
IDEA survey is anonymous as well.

I’m a department chair. How can I see survey results?
All department chair

and all grades are in, the access will be reinstated, and you will be notified
by e-mail.
When the access has
been restored, you will need your login and password. You can receive this at any time by calling
