Frequently Asked Questions

Who's eligible to participate?
Eligibility and participation in Intramurals at Utah Valley University is open to full-fee-paying students, faculty, and staff of UVU. Those who are not students, faculty, or staff can purchase a Guest Pass from the Intramurals Office for $25. You are only allowed 2 guests per team. Varsity players must only play in sports not related to their varsity sport. All participants must bring their UVU student ID to every game. Non-students must bring a form of ID to every game. NO EXCEPTIONS
How much does it cost to participate?
Each sport varies in price. We have team sports and individual sports. The entry fee for team sports varies based on the event which is usually around 40 dollars. The individual sports such as Mini-golf, Bowling, Golf, etc. will cost whatever the business charges and the more students we get to sign up the better deals we can get from the business. When we have individual events on campus they usually will only cost $5 at the most if not free watch posters for fees if applicable.

How do I get on a team if I don't have one?
If you don't have a team and would like to be on one, come by the Intramural office and ask for teams that need more players. We will give you names and numbers of captains, it is your responsibility to call them and get on a team.

Will there still be events if there is bad weather?
When there is bad weather, call the Intramural office to check for changes. (863-6163) Most play will continue in rain, snow, etc. but in severe cases tournaments may be moved to another date. There may be some cases in which we will have to change the location of play because of scheduling conflicts. If this happens, we will let you know where to play.

Does Intramurals have job opportunities?
Intramural Sports uses Student Officials for all of its team officiated sports. Prior experience is helpful but not needed to become a member of the Intramural Sports Officiating Team. If you are interested in being a Student Official come to the Intramural office for more information.

What constitutes a forfeit?
GAME TIME IS FORFEIT TIME! You should arrive at your court or field 15 minutes prior to game time. A team can begin play with one man down. However, a team must be full by half time, otherwise the game will be recorded as a forfeit. TWO FORFEITS WILL RESULT IN THE TERMINATION OF THE SEASON FOR THE TEAM. See also the FORFEIT/SPORTSMANSHIP DEPOSIT.

What is the FORFEIT/SPORTSMANSHIP DEPOSIT?
On top of the entry fee there will be a $20 forfeit/sportsmanship deposit paid at the time the packet is turned in. This money will remain ours if, a team has two offenses. Offenses are: forfeiting a game and having a player ejected from a game. Teams will lose $10 per offense from their deposit. For more information ask at the Intramural office or see our policies and procedures.

What if I have a protest about a call made by an official?
Protests on rule interpretation, discrepancy, and eligibility must be filed by the Team Captain before the next legal live play. Protests on judgment calls are not allowed.

What does the Champion get?
Intramural Champion t-shirts will be awarded in each of the following categories: Men's 4A, 3A Women's 4A, 3A for all sports(except those sports that do not meet the minimum requirement for the number of entries to conduct the event). There are also gift certificates given out at 5k runs and other individual events.

Can I play on more than one team?
Anyone who plays for two teams shall be ineligible for all future games in that sport for the remainder of the semester, and the second team for which the player played shall receive a forfeit loss for each game in which the ineligible player participated.
