Information regarding:
Student Rating of Instruction

Teacher evaluations or Student Rating of Instruction(SRIs) are now closed as of Sunday April 20th.  Based on SRI policy the evaluations may not be open after finals begin.  We appreciate all of the input that we have received.  If you desire further input or did not have a chance to evaluate your instructor and course, we encourage you to send feedback to us, your instructor, or the department of your instructor.  We would encourage you to do this after finals are finished or anonymously if you would like.

Although this information will not be included in the survey results we do treat all feedback seriously.  If you have feedback that you would like to send anonymously you may use the anonymous feedback channel provided in UVLink Hometab bottom right hand side in the MyInputToUVSC Channel.  If you would like to give feedback on the survey itself, please email it@uvsc.edu.  We are continually working with the software company that provides us this tool to improve this survey tool.

Student Information(see below)       Faculty Information

Students,
Your perception and evaluation of your learning experience this semester is very important to help us improve the quality of teaching at UVSC.  Please take the time to complete the online Student Review of Instructors (SRI) as scheduled

Instructions on how to complete the SRI:
1. Go to UVLink and log in
2. Make sure you are on the Home tab.  If you are not, click on the Home tab to navigate there.
3. You will see a UVLink channel in the upper-middle of the page titled "Teacher Evaluations".
4. Click on the link titled "Click here to complete your Fall 2007 Teacher Evaluations".
5. Will will see a list of courses for which you are currently registered.  The course that are valid for evaluation will have an "Evaluate" link.  If you have already evaluated the course, or if you are registered for the course inh a future semester there will not be an "Evaluated" link.
6. A window with the survey will open when you click on the "Evaluate" link.  Once you have answered the questions, be sure to click on "Submit Evaluation".
7. After you submit your evaluation, you will see a saved view of your survey answers.  You may close this window and click on another evaluation link in the course listing (see #5 above).
8. You may choose not to respond to the survey, by submitting it without answering any questions or changing any defaults.
9. If you need to have a confirmation of completion for your instructor, use only the top portion with your name and student information to preserve the anonymity of your ratings and comments.  If you have previously completed the evaluation, use the page that lists all the courses to evaluate and the lack of a link to evaluate a course is proof of completion.

If you have problems logging into UVLink call the UVSC IT HelpDesk at 801-863-8888.  For questions or suggestions regarding the survey please email it@uvsc.edu

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
I have a class with Multiple instructors.  Can I rate them all?
Unfortunately, this Spring 2008 semester you can only do one rating per course.  This will be fixed in the future.

Why is it only available for such a limited time?
Academics and Faculty Senate require that the evaluations end before the start of finals.  Because of the major change in the system this semester, we were not able to bring the system on-line until now.  We apologize and in the future it will be available three weeks before finals.

I don't get the evaluation for one of my instructors/classes.  How do I get it?
The instructor has an opt out capability if they prefer that a class not be evaluated.  There is a problem with a few of the classes with this feature where the instructor did not opt out but the class was marked that way anyway.  If you find that this is the case, please have your instructor contact Distance Education in order to fix this.

Confidentiality - Can my teacher identify me or my results?
This survey protects your confidentiality.  The survey results are stored separately from who has completed the survey.  Only the survey results are given to the teacher and in a compiled format so that there is no identifying information available.  Information on who took the survey is not supplied to the instructor.

I don't want to do it.  Can I Opt out?
If you really don't want to or don't feel qualified to evaluate your instructors, you may opt out with out any penalty.  However, we strongly encourage you to take this opportunity to evaluate them.  It is important to the quality of teaching at UVSC.  You opt out by selecting the submit button without filling out the information.  Once done, you will not be able to go back and do it later!

Can I preview the evaluation?  What does it look like?
To see a sample of the evaluation click here.

How long do I have to complete it?
See schedule below.

Who do I contact for more information about them?
Concerns and questions regarding evauations should be addressed to the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence or the VP of Academics

What about the survey coming up more than once?  Can I take it more than once for each instructor and class?
Due to the way some browsers and computers work, the survey page maybe cached and can come up more than once.  However, only the first survey completed is kept by the system.  To clear the cache so that it doesn't come up again you may clear/delete the temporary Internet files in your browser options settings.

If I can't take the survey or it doesn't work right, who do I contact regarding technical problems?
Please email it@uvsc.edu and include the course(s) that you can't evaluate along with your UV ID.  Someone will respond within 1 working day.
