Earned credits will transfer to UVSC after completing the classes in Germany
Students register on the internet directly with a Goethe-Institute of their choice in Germany and�select a month best suited to their schedule ( May through August) 2004. Students make their own travel arrangements. At the completion of the program in Germany students must obtain a transcript of records from Goethe and present it at UVSC records office to receive UVSC credit.
German classes are offered on all skill levels from beginning through advanced. An online placement test helps students to enroll in an appropriate class suited to their skill level. Classes begin on the first Monday of each month and usually last for 4 weeks, unless you choose longer programs.
Places: One of 16 Goethe Institutes in Germany at various locations (recommended: Prien am Chiemsee). Check it out at www.goethe.de/prien
Time: Choose your own time from May. through August.
Note: You can choose from several programs: Intensive 4- lasts 4 weeks, Intensive 8 - lasts 8 weeks, or Intensive 12 - lasts 12 weeks.
Classes begin the first Monday of each month.
Cost: About $1,300.-- plus airfare. (Latest roundtrip airfare on Lufthansa is about $650.--. These seats are selling fast and you should make your reservation as soon as possible)
Included in this price:
1. 4 weeks Intensive German(4.5 hrs per day, 5 days/wk)
2. Room, double occupancy or private (add$100.-- ) dormitory or with a German family,
3. All books you need
4. Full use of the Language Labs - very modern and up-to-date.
Not included:
1. Breakfast for the month costs $25.-- / wk.
2. Lunch and dinner.� Most Goethe Institutes have kitchens for the students.
3. Airfare (approximately $700.-- if you make your reservations soon)
4. Optional weekend excursions offered by Goethe for very reasonable prices.
Also needed:
1. Passport (appr. $80.-)
2. Student Identification card (appr. $20)
3. Your personal health insurance - Goethe has insurance available for appr. $80.--

If you plan to travel in Europe you should obtain an International Youth Hostel membership and card at www.council.org
College Credit: Credits earned at Goethe transfer directly to UVSC.

German 2020, German 3050, and Ger 3200 - 3 crhrs
Program: The recommended course is German Intensiv 4, which means the course is for 4 weeks with classes held 5 days a week, Monday through Friday mornings. You take a placement test on the Internet at www.goethe.de and submit it. You are placed at your skill level in the appropriate class in which you can most likely succeed. All books and housing, are included in the program price. The classes are taught by professionally trained teachers of the Institute. Most of these teacher have traveled extensively in the USA and are skilled in working with US Students.
Itinerary: Plan your own itinerary. Remember that classes always start on the first Monday of every month. Weekend excursions are planned by Goethe for very reasonable prices with professional tour companies.
Participants must have their own Health and Accident Insurance valid for Europe. Some insurance companies will not insure you outside of the USA.� Be sure your policy is valid in Europe. The Goethe Institute offers a basic health insurance plan for about $80.� covering you while at the Institute only. Ask STA Travel for their comprehensive Insurance plan.
Liability insurance - Each participant must have their own liability insurance. You assume all liability for yourself. You will be required to sign a liability waiver at UVSC.
Students register and pay for their roundtrip airfare, their student identification card and� Youthhostel card at STA Travel, 2144 South Highland Dr. Salt Lake City, Ut, Tel: ( 801) 375-1919.
Participants must obtain their own Passports. Application forms are available from US Post offices or City and County Bld in Provo.
You will be your own tour director and make all necessary reservations in Europe.
