Library Tutorials

The UVSC library provides instruction on general library use, and on the techniques for locating information resources. Library instruction enhances a student's ability to locate appropriate research materials and thereby improve the quality of academic research for term papers.

To assist with developing research skills, the library offers several self-paced tutorials. These tutorials may be used by themselves or in conjunction with a presentation by a librarian in the classroom. If you have questions, please contact Rama Chamberlin at (801) 863- 8423. Learn more about the UVSC Library Instruction program.

Introduction to Library Research

In this brief tutorial, students will learn the basics of finding books and articles on a topic. A brief exercise at the end of the tutorial allows students to practice the skills taught.

Intermediate Library Research

Students will understand the basic steps of library research including developing a topic, finding books, locating articles, using web sites, and evaluating resources. At the end of the tutorial, students can complete an exercise to reinforce their learning.
