Library Hours & Services June 30 and July 1
On the final day of operation in the Losee Center, the Library will provide access to computers and reference service on June 30. Textbooks and other reserve materials will have limited access during the day in preparation of the move to the new library. The Library will begin operating at the new building immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony on July 1.
Library hours are as follows:
June 30 7:00 am - 9:00 pm
July 1 11:30 am (or immediately following ribbon cutting ceremony) - 11:00 pm
Take Part in UVUphoria! with the Library Showcase on June 30
Utah Valley University (UVU) will be hosting the UVU Library Showcase to introduce the public to the new library from 1:00 to 6:30 PM on June 30th. The UVU Library Showcase is open to the public and will feature events to interest students, UVU employees, and community members of all ages.
As part of the opening day festivities, there will be an array of activities for everyone including balloons, giveaway items, and mini-classes.
For the creatively inclined, there will be a film festival, readings by local authors, art and photography displays. For those of more physical interests, School of Continuing Education instructors will provide exhibitions of martial arts, fire-dancing, belly-dancing, fly-tying and more. From 1:00 to 3:00 PM, additional Continuing Education sessions will be provided for young children, including storytelling, sign language for babies, and musical and dance performances.
Local radio broadcaster and author Amanda Dickson will be a featured speaker at 2:00 PM, and UVSC professor James Arrington will present a Farley Family Reunion performance at 5:00 PM.
Everyone will easily find a way to enjoy the UVU Library Showcase. Additionally, drawings for prizes donated by local and regional businesses will be held. This new library and the transition of UVSC to UVU is a historic event which will shape the future of many thousands of students, community members, and businesses for years to come, don’t miss the celebration!
Limited Access to Library Materials Beginning June 9
As the Library materials are moved to the new building beginning June 9, access to books and media items will be limited. If you would like to check out materials that are not available, please request the item at the 3rd floor Circulation Desk. Couriers will retrieve requested materials twice a day at noon and 5 pm, Monday - Friday. For assistance or more information, contact the Circulation Desk at 863-8886. Full access to materials will return on July 1 when the new library opens.
