Access
Get quality research through the library's online databases, journals, audiovisual materials and book collection.
Magazine/Journal Article Access
Select from over 100 library indexes to locate quality articles on your subject. The library provides more than 18,000 journal titles, many of which are available full-text online. To search for articles, go to the library home page and click on the "Articles" icon. All indexes are available off-campus with your computer login (not UVLink login).
Book Checkout/Statewide Borrowing
The library offers over 200,000 books on a variety of subjects. Collections within the library include reference, law, browsing, children's literature and career books. Use your student ID to check items out at UVSC or any other Utah college or university library. Search UVSC and other collections by clicking on the "Books & Media" link from the library's home page. Books may be checked out for two weeks and may be renewed online.
Electronic Books
The library has a collection of over 6,000 electronic books, available cover to cover online, through netLibrary. To view the ebook collection, click on "Books & Media" from the library home page, and select "Electronic Books" from the left navigation..
Newspapers
The library provides access to local, national and international newspapers, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times and many others. Click on "Articles" from the library home page and select the "Newspapers" link on the resulting page. You will see a list of local and national newspapers as well as newspaper indexes allowing you to search multiple newspapers at one time.
Course Reserve
Faculty often put books, articles, videos, and other material on reserve for student use. Ask for reserve materials at the 3rd floor circulation desk. Reserve items typically checkout for 2 hours. Many reserve items are available to students online. Go to the library's web page, click on the "Electronic Reserve" link. Most articles will require a generic password, which your instructor or a library staff member can provide.
Course Textbooks
Textbooks from many UVSC classes are put on reserve per student and faculty request. Textbooks can be checked out at the 3rd floor circulation desk for 2 hours.
Audiovisual Materials
The library has more than 14,000 videos, DVDs and CDs, which can be located by using the library catalog or by browsing the audiovisual collection on the 4th floor. Students may check out up to 5 videos or DVDs for 3 days. CDs check out for 2 weeks.
Interlibrary Loan
Students may request books, articles and other materials not available at UVSC through Interlibrary Loan. Articles typically arrive around 4 working days while books typically arrive in about 7-10 days. Fill out the interlibrary loan request form online by clicking on the Interlibrary Loan link on the library's home page.
Renew Books Online
Save yourself a trip to the library by renewing your books and other materials online by clicking on the "My Account" link. You will need to set up an account and select your own username and password.
Add Print Credit
After using your 100 free pages of printing, easily add more print credit by clicking on the yellow icon in the lower right hand corner of the computer screen on any library computer.
Appeal Fines
If you feel you have received a fine unfairly, complete the online appeal form.

Research Assistance
You can find what you need with the help of a professional librarian. Stop by the Research Assistance Desk or call 863-8840 with questions. Reference librarians are available Monday-Thursday from 8 am to 9 pm, Friday from 8 am to 5 pm, and Saturday from 10 am to 7 pm.
Ask a Librarian Email Service
Receive research assistance within 24-48 hours through the library's email reference service. Email help is ideal for questions directly related to UVSC's resources and services.

Computer Applications
Internet access, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint are available on the 3rd floor library computers. Several computers also have CD-RW or DVD-ROM drives. The lab in LC 306 also offers a scanner and computers with DVD drives.
Viewing Stations
Televisions with VCRs and DVD players are located in LC 413.
Copiers
The library offers five self-service copiers on the 3rd and 4th floors. Copies are 5 cents each, and each copier will accept $1 and $5 bills.
Group Study Rooms
LC 419, 420, 421 and 422 are available for group study. Students may reserve the rooms for two hour blocks at the 3rd floor circulation desk.
Quiet Study
LC 411 is available for individual, no-talking study.
Suggestions for Purchase
We always appreciate your suggestions for improvements/acquisitions for the library. Just fill out our "Suggestions for Purchase" form online by clicking on the Request Materials button on the library's home page.
Typewriters
Typewriters are available for free use near the balcony railing.
Accommodative Computer Lab
The Accommodative Computer lab is a great resource open to all ASD students. It is located on the 4th floor of the Library room 417.Learn to How to Do Library Research
