Judicial Affairs

Judicial Affairs handles all complaints and breeches of the student code. Attending UVSC is a privilege not a right. All students attending UVSC must abide by the Student Rights and Responsibilities code. If any member of the campus community feels a student has violated the code in any way a complaint can be made in writing or in person to the Director of Judicial Affairs. After reviewing the allegation the student will be called to a hearing, at which time the director will explain the offense. If the student agrees the allegation is warranted, the director will administer any combination of sanctions outlined in article III of the Student Code. The code is found at UVSC Policies and Procedures

If the student denies the allegation an investigation will be conducted. Witnesses may be interviewed, as well as others connected to the allegation. At the completion of the investigation the Director of Judicial Affairs will determine if sanctions are warranted, or if allegations are false. If either the student in question or the person making the complaint feel the sanctions or the investigation were unfair, they can submit a written appeal to the Dean of Students within 14 days. The Dean of Students can concur with the director, dismiss the matter, or refer the matter to the campus appeals board.
