Run-on/Comma Splice/Fragment Quiz, Part II
Rewrite the following paragraph. Change the punctuation and capitalization in order to eliminate any sentence fragments, comma splices, and run-on sentences. Do not add or delete any words. Not all sentences require correction; however, all sentences should be included in your revised paragraph.

New scientific discoveries call for new words for example, medicines like penicillin and streptomycin were unheard of fifty years ago. Although now we hear their names frequently. The word
allergy
has been in the language for many years, however, remedies for allergies were discovered only recently. These remedies are called
antihistamines
. A new term. That is now familiar to every hay-fever sufferer. However, words for old-fashioned medical techniques go out of use. As words for new techniques come into use. How many people today know what
cupping
means, how many doctors today would write a prescription mentioning
laudanum
? As further medical discoveries are made, additional words will certainly be added to our ever-changing language.
