- Activities for ESL/EFL
The TESL Journal sponsors this site, which contains quizzes in almost every area of English language study.
- ESL Studyhall
The ESL Study Hall, sponsored by George Washington University, provides help with reading, writing, listening, vocabulary, grammar, and US culture.
- Dave's ESL Cafe
Dave Sperling's ESL Cafe contains many resources for teachers and students of ESL, including an idiom page, discussion center, pronunciation help, and lots of other fun and useful resources.

This site, sponsored by the Capital Community College Foundation, addresses word and sentence-level concerns as well as paragraph and essay issues.
- Writing Handouts
This site is offered by Purdue University and offers a multitude of handouts on writing principles and skills. Some handouts are especially for ESL students.
Reading
- Online Newspapers
On this site, readers can access hundreds of newspapers from around the world. These newspapers are in many languages.
- Internet Public Library
This is an in-depth site for reading resources. Books, magazines, newspapers, and so on are all available.
- Newspaper Voyager
The Newspaper Voyager allows readers to find and read newspapers from all states in the US.

This Centre for Language and Training Assessment (CFLTA) website has many excellent explanations and practice quizzes for beginning-level grammar students and links to
Crazy English and
Terrible Teacher for more advanced students.
- Superteach Grammar Lessons
This site has fun, easy to understand lessons in basic problem areas of English grammar. There are exercises and answer keys. The opportunity for students to e-mail for more information is also available.
- Grammar Bytes
Grammar explanations and interactive exercises are available on this site. This may be most useful to intermediate or advanced students.

- Randall's ESL Cyber Listening Lab
This site has both short and long listening quizzes that are categorized as medium, difficult, and very difficult.
- History and Politics Out Loud
This site offers a wide range of audio material from public speeches to personal conversations that are considered significant in US history.

This site offer teachers many ideas and lessonplans for ESL/EFL.
- ELT Web
This index of English language resources provides links to over 1200 ESL/EFL teaching resources.
- Purdue OWL Handouts and Exercises
The Purdue University OWL has an entire page devoted to material for ESL and writing teachers.
- TESL-EJ
This electronic journal for ESL teachers is not very accessible unless you know the exact issue. It is recommended to search by volume, not by subject.
