Overview
The Professional Association of Campus Employees (PACE) was organized in 1983 to represent the non-teaching employees of Utah Valley University. PACE is sanctioned by the University President, his administration, and by the Board of Trustees. PACE provides membership to all full-time and part-time staff (excluding student employees, faculty and executives) of Utah Valley University. The Professional Association of Campus Employees works with an administrative liaison, appointed by the University President, who serves as a non-voting member of the PACE Executive Board.
Organization Purpose
The major purpose of PACE is to represent all UVU full-time and part-time staff and their concerns through a unified voice to the administration in all areas that involve PACE members. Examples of such areas include compensation, benefits, leave, working conditions, hiring procedures, grievances, performance evaluations, UVU policies and procedures, etc. PACE also sponsors programs and activities to promote employee recognition, professional development, and social interaction.
PACE Board members serve as the voice of those they represent and serve for the good of PACE members and of the University. They are responsible for relaying information from the PACE Board to those they represent and relaying from them to the PACE Board members. Board members are responsible for attending meetings of the PACE Board.
Membership
Membership is open to all staff (excludes student employees, faculty and executives) of Utah Valley University. Any PACE member may attend Board meetings and speak to an issue under the administration of the chairperson. However, only officers and board members have voting rights on matters being addressed by the Board. The Executive Board of PACE consists of a President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer, Past President, and the administrative liaison.
The general board of PACE consists of twenty-seven employees elected for two-year terms of office to represent a specific classification and area of the University. General Board members serve on a variety of committees. Standing and ad hoc committees may be appointed by the PACE President as the need arises. Each committee is chaired by a Board member. Committees report to and act under the direction of the Board.
Conclusion
Employees are encouraged to become actively involved in the Professional Association of Campus Employees and its many and varied activities. PACE General Board meetings are held monthly and are open to all employees. A current listing of PACE officers is available. Contact those individuals to express concerns or to find answers to questions regarding the organization and its activities.
