A Brief History
In 1991, Utah Valley State College (now Utah Valley University) joined hands with the U.S. Department of Education, Alpine, Nebo, Provo, and Wasatch School Districts, and two community-based programs to help 200 students who were failing in school. There were only 12 such partnerships in the entire United States, and we were pioneers in this type of cooperative educational experience.
It was uncertain what kind of success we would have with students since other things had failed. These were kids many others had given up hope on and parents did not know where else to turn.
What we found were some of the brightest and best students our staff had ever worked with. Each person and family was unique, therefore a unique program was designed for each one.
It has been our privilege to assist thousands of students since 1991 and the results have been almost miraculous. Kids who felt they had no future are now filled with purpose, optimism, and hope, and many parents are sleeping a lot better at night.
Today, the Partnership is expanding to help more students and to solve some of the problems that afflict our community.
