January 1st-DUI METABOLITE/ POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA- A 20 year old female from Santa Fe New Mexico was arrested for DUI and Possession of Marijuana. The female and three passengers drove 10 hrs to attend the New Years Eve party at the McKay Event Center. Her vehicle was also impounded.
January 1st- DUIs/ FIREARMS VIOLATION- Officers Sprague and Redmond just completed a traffic stop at 1200 W 400 S when Orem Dispatched a possible DUI at the 7-11 located at 1200 W Center Street. Officers Redmond and Sprague spotted the truck leaving the parking lot and immediately pulled the truck over. As they were walking up to talk to the driver, he changed seats with the female passenger. The 28 year old male was arrested for DUI and POSSESSION of FIREARMS by a RESTRICTED PERSON. The 21 year old female was arrested for DUI and tested positive for cocaine and other drugs. Both were booked into the Utah County Jail. Two handguns were confiscated from the suspect's truck and the vehicle was impounded.
January 1st-POSSESSION MARIJUANA/ POSSESSION PARAPHERNALIA- A 19 year old female from Sante Fe New Mexico was arrested for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia in a drug free zone.
January 1st-ILLEGAL CONSUMPTION-A 20 year old female was issued a citation for Illegal Consumption during the New Years Eve Royale at the McKay Events Center.
January 1st-THEFT-A sound mixer was stolen from the McKay Events Center during the New Years Eve Royale. The mixer was valued at $200.00.
January 2nd-POSSESSION DRUG PARAPHERNALIA- Officers looking for a suspect in a theft case found the suspect leaving the Utah Fire and Rescue Academy in Provo at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated on the suspect vehicle near Center Street and Geneva Road in Provo. The driver was arrested for an outstanding warrant. The truck was searched incident to arrest in which drug paraphernalia was found. The driver was cited for drug paraphernalia and transported to the Utah County Jail where he was able to post bail on the warrant. The theft case remains open.
January 3rd-MISSING CHILD-Officers were dispatched to the Administration building on a report of a 3yr old boy that was missing. Officers had a campus wide ATL put out on the child. The child was located by a UVSC Electrician near parking lot G on the side of the road. The child was unharmed and returned to his mother.
January 4th- TRAFFIC ACCIDENT- A traffic accident occurred in parking lot L between a shuttle bus and a passenger car. The shuttle bus was at fault for the accident. However, the driver of the passenger car was issued a citation for Driving on Suspension and warned for an outstanding warrant.
January 5th- BOMB THREAT-UVSC Police along with Orem Police, Orem Fire, and Utah County Sheriff responded to the Institute Building after a bomb threat was called in. The building was evacuated and UVSC Officers along with Utah County Sheriff Deputies searched the building. No explosives where found and the case remains open.
January 9th-CRIMINAL TRESPASS- Chief Rockwood responded to the MATC on a report of a male trespassing. The student was trespassed for previously writing graffiti on UVSC facilities.
January 10th- SUSPICIOUS CIRCUMSTANCES-A 24 year old male was observed getting on and off a UVSC shuttle bus numerous times. When questioned by police, the male stated he was using the shuttle to go between his apartment and the Student Center to use the phone. The suspect was not a student and was trespassed from campus for improper use of school facilities.
January 10th-MEDICAL-A 18 year old female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital after injuring her knee during a dance class.
January 11th- MEDICAL- A 29 year old female lacerated her finger while cleaning a knife during a Culinary Arts class. The student was taken to Student Health Services for treatment.
January 12th-MEDICAL- A male student was taken to a local hospital by ambulance after suffering a unknown medical condition.
January 15th-HAZMAT- A sprinkler line froze in the Environmental Technology building. The sprinkler line broke and flooded a chemical storage room. Due to the chemicals potentially involved, Orem Fire Department Hazardous Materials unit was called out and determined the area to be safe. The area was closed throughout the night for cleanup.
January 16th- DISORDERLY CONDUCT- A male and female were arguing during the Mens BB game and were separated by UVSC Police.
January 19th- ROAD RAGE- A 49 year old school employee upset over an incident in the round-a-bout began to chase another vehicle through the parking lots near the Liberal Arts building. The other vehicle slammed on it's brakes causing the employee to rear end the other vehicle. Both drivers were cited for Disorderly Conduct.
January 24th-TRAFFIC ACCIDENT- UVSC and Orem Police responded to 800 W University Parkway on a traffic accident involving two vehicles. A vehicle traveling westbound on the Parkway failed to stop for a red light and struck a vehicle that was turning left onto UVSC property.
January 25th-MEDICAL-A 24 year old female had a seizure at the Testing Center. The female was evaluated by Orem Paramedics and released to her sister.
January 26th- MEDICAL-A 26 year old pregnant female complained of numbness in her face during the UHSAA Drill Team competition at the McKay Events Center. The female was evaluated by Orem Paramedics and released on scene.
January 26th-DISORDERLY CONDUCT- A 20 year old male riding his bike with no brakes spit on a vehicle in parking lot L after the vehicle pulled out of a parking stall in front of the bike. Officers Sprague and Shuler responded to the suspect's home and made contact with him. The suspect also had an outstanding warrant for an assault out of Highland. The suspect was booked into the Utah County Jail.
January 26th- MEDICAL-A 17 year old female collapsed with hip pain after performing in the UHSAA Drill Team competition at the McKay Events Center. The female was evaluated by Orem Paramedics and released to her mother.
January 26th- DISORDERLY CONDUCT- A 49 year old school employee became argumentative with a 79 year old usher working at the McKay Events Center after the usher told the school employee to use the main entrance during the UHSAA Drill Team competition. The school employee was warned for Disorderly Conduct and recommended for anger management.
January 28th- WARRANT SERVICES- Officer Redmond observed a vehicle traveling on 1200 W having difficulty staying in her own lane. Officer Redmond stopped the vehicle and found the driver to be extremely tired as well as having a outstanding warrant for her arrest. The 19 year old female was booked into the Utah County Jail.
January 29th- MEDICAL- A 24 year old female fell and sprained her ankle in the 4th level of the Gunther Trades building.
January 30th-CRIMINAL MISCHIEF- A van left in parking lot F was vandalized sometime between January 12 through January 19th.
January 30th- ASSAULT- A intramural basketball game ended abruptly when a player punched a player on the opposing team. The victim was evaluated on scene by Police and Paramedics then released to a friend to be taken to a local hospital for treatment. UVSC Police are still looking for the suspect.
January 30th- AUTO vs PEDESTRIAN- A 21 year old female was struck by a car while walking in the crosswalk located at the front of campus near the bus stop. The female was not seriously injured but was taken by ambulance to a local hospital for her injuries.
January 31st- ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER/ FAILURE TO COMPLY- A UVSC Officer was directing traffic at the round-a-bout when a vehicle approached. The officer directed the driver to proceed eastbound on College Drive. The driver became upset and initially began to travel eastbound as directed. The driver then made an illegal u-turn and approached the round-a-bout again. As the Officer attempted to stop the suspect vehicle, the driver continued to drive toward the Officer forcing the Officer to step aside. As the vehicle proceeded next to the Officer, the Officer was struck by the drivers side mirror. The Officer drew his duty weapon and ordered the suspect out of the car. The 22 year old male suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Utah County Jail and charged with ASSAULT ON A POLICE OFFICER, FAILURE TO COMPLY, and IMPROPER U TURN.
