April 2008

April 3rd WARRANT SERVICE- A 25 year old male was stopped for speeding by UVSC Police. The driver was driving on a suspended license and had a warrant for his arrest. The driver was arrested and taken to Orem Police Department where he posted bail and was released.

April 3rd MEDICAL- A 22 year old male suffered a dislocated shoulder on the north field. The patient was evaluated by Orem Paramedics and released on scene.

April 3rd- TRAFFIC ACCIDENT- A UVSC Police car was struck by a school bus at the intersection of 400 W 800 S. Damage to the patrol car is estimated at several thousand dollars.

April 4th- FIRE- UVSC Police and Orem Fire Department responded to a report of a fire in the Woodbury Business building. The fire was limited to a mechanical air handler in the ceiling.

April 7th- MEDICAL- UVSC Police and Orem Paramedics responded to the Liberal Arts Building on a report of a student having a seizure. The student was evaluated by Paramedics and released to the care of a family member.

April 9th- SUSPICIOUS- UVSC Police searched the Pioneer House after is was reported a window had been broken and appeared someone had been living in it. Evidence was discovered indicating someone has been living in the condemned building.

April 11th- MEDICAL- UVSC Police and Orem Paramedics responded to Student Health Services on a report of a possible heart attack. The adult female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further evaluation.

April 13th- MEDICAL- A 52 year old female participating in a motorcycle training course was transported by ambulance to a local hospital after becoming light headed.

April 18th- MEDICAL- A 21 year old female fainted in the Pope Science Building. The patient was evaluated on scene by Orem Paramedics and released on scene to a family member.

April 25th- SUSPICIOUS- A suspicious backpack was left unattended in the Student Center in a position that drew concern of a staff member. Upon UVSC Officers arrival, it was determined for the safety of the campus community to secure the area and request assistance from the Utah County Bomb Squad; due to several factors involving the backpack. Portions of the Student Center were closed until the backpack was deemed safe.

April 25th- MEDICAL- A 90 year old female was transported by ambulance to a local hospital after suffering a fall at the entrance to the McKay Events Center. 

April 25th- MEDICAL- A 79 year old women suffered a fall at the McKay Events Center.  The patient was treated on scene and released by Orem Paramedics. 

April 25th- MEDICAL- A elderly man collapsed during graduation ceremonies at the McKay Event Center. Orem Paramedics arrived on scene  and transported the patient to a local hospital for further treatment.
