Police Beat 2008

July 3rd- AGENCY ASSIST- University Police responded to WalMart on a report of child abuse in progress. A adult female was cited for Child Neglect after Officers found her children left unattended in a vehicle.

July 4th- DUI- University Police observed a vehicle enter I-15 northbound at University Parkway almost striking several vehicles. Sgt. Sprague initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle north of Center Street on I-15. The driver was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for DUI. The vehicle was impounded and the driver was booked into the Utah County Jail.

July 5th- AGENCY ASSIST- University Police responded to a residence near 400 S 400 E to assist Orem Police with a report of a female in a seizure and being denied medical care by her husband.

July 10th- AGENCY ASSIST- University Police responded to 400 W University Parkway on a report of a motorcycle involved in a traffic accident.

July 11th- THEFT/ ARREST- University Police arrested a local LDS actor for a theft of a laptop that occurred last April. University Police were finally able to track the suspect to a residence in Orem where he was taken into custody without incident.  The laptop had been recovered in April and was valued at over $2100.  The suspect was booked into the Utah County Jail.

July 12th- DUI- University Police observed a 26 year old male suspected of being intoxicated enter a black Ford Mustang in parking lot L and proceed north on College Drive to 1200 W. The vehicle was observed speeding and driving left of center. Sgt Sprague stopped the vehicle near parking lot A and arrested the driver for DUI. The father of the driver arrived on scene and asked Sgt. Sprague if his son could have a warning. The father wad advised there are no warnings for DUI. The 26 year old driver was booked into the Utah County Jail.

July 13th- AGENCY ASSIST- University Police responded to the area of 1200 W 600 S to search for a DUI suspect that fled on foot after being involved in a single vehicle accident on I-15. The suspect and his girlfriend were located at 7-11 on Center Street by an Orem Officer. The male driver was in possession of ecstasy, shrooms, marijuana, and miscellaneous prescription drugs. Utah Highway Patrol booked both the driver and his girlfriend into the Utah County Jail on numerous felonies. Their car was a total loss.
