September 2008

 

September 2nd- Bicycle vs. Pedestrian- A bicyclist traveling north on College Drive near the DLC struck a pedestrian. The pedestrian was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with moderate to serious injuries. The bicyclist was treated and released on scene. The bicyclist was found to be at fault for improper lighting and the pedestrian was found to be at fault for jay walking.

September 4th- Disorderly Conduct/ Assault on an Officer-A 26 year old male passenger in a car was issued a citation for Disorderly Conduct after the vehicle passed a accident scene and the passenger disrupted the accident investigation. The suspect also reportedly assaulted the Officer while receiving the citation. The incident will be forwarded to the Orem City Attorney for review of possible additional charges.

September 5th- Agency Assist- UVU Police responded to 1100 W University Parkway to assist Orem Police with a traffic accident involving three vehicles.

September 5th- Traffic Accident- UVU Police responded to 800 S 1200 W on a traffic accident involving three vehicles.

September 6th- Medical- A adult patron at the Owlz baseball game suffered a seizure while sitting on the front row near the home team dugout. The game was stopped while emergency personnel removed the patient for treatment.

September 6th- Medical- UVU Police along with Orem Paramedics responded to the Institute Building on a report of a adult male having a heart attack. The adult male was transported by ambulance to local hospital.

September 8th- Medical- An adult male chasing a foul ball during the Owlz baseball game fell and struck his head. The adult male was evaluated on scene by Orem Paramedics and released to his wife.

September 9th- Medical- A 21 year old female fainted during a class in the Gunther Trades building. The female was evaluated by Orem Paramedics and released.

September 10th- Medical- UVU Police took a report of a 37 year old male that fell in the Digital Learning Center. The victim's wife drove him to a local hospital for treatment of a obvious fracture to his left arm.

September 15th- Felony Theft- A laptop valued at more than $1300.00 was stolen from the Student Government offices when it was left unattended by the owner.  UVU Police recovered the laptop from a local pawn shop where it had been pawned.  A 21 year old male student was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail.

September 15th- Auto cs. Pedestrians- Two UCAS students were struck by a vehicle on North College Drive when they attempted to enter the crosswalk as a vehicle was passing.  The male victim suffered a broken him and other serious injuries.  The female victim suffered road rash and lacerations.  Both pedestrians were transported to local hospitals by ambulance.

September 18th- Theft- A helmet was stolen after it was left unattended on a scooter parked in lot G.

September 20th- Warrant Service- A UVU Police Officer witnessed to male suspects arguing near 800 W University Parkway.  The Officer responded and made contact with the suspects.  A records check showed one of the male suspects had a warrant for his arrest.  The male was arrested and booked into the Utah County Jail for the outstanding warrant.

September 23rd- Agency Assist- UVU Police responded to I-15 at University Parkway on a report of a traffic accident.  Officers found two occupants had been ejected from a Toyota Scion.  One passenger was killed instantly.  The other passenger remains in critical condition.  The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

September 24th- Criminal Mischief- UVU Police took a report of someone shooting the windows at the DLC with a paintball gun.

September 24th- Theft- A windshield was stolen from a motorcycle that had been parked in lot M.

September 26th- Medical- A 24 year old male UVU student crashed his longboard near lot D on College Drive.  The student hit his head as a result of the crash and quit breathing.  Several bystanders initiated CPR and were able to maintain critical life support until emergency personnel arrived on scene.  The student was transported by ambulance to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition.

September 26th- Theft-A unattended backpack was stolen from the PE building.

September 29th- Medical- A 64 year old Adjunct Faculty member suffered a fatal heart attack while playing racquetball in the PE building.  CPR was administered by his opponent and bystanders until Orem Paramedics arrived on scene.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where at which time he was declared to be deceased.

September 30th- Medical- UVU Police and Orem Paramedics responded to the Brent Brown Ballpark on a report of a 17 year old male that had suffered a seizure after running into another ball player.  The male was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.
