Awards are a result of the generous donations from individuals and organizations. Recipients are selected through a joint process between the UVSC Gifts and Grants Committee and the individuals and organizations. All awards are subject to available funding and are based on donor specified criteria.
Application dates for new UVSC students is February 15 and for continuing students, March 1.

NOTE: Unless otherwise stated, all Privately Funded Scholarships require a minimum GPA of 3.0 and students must be enrolled full time (12 credit hours).

Stephen L. Adams Scholarship
  1. Student must be an Art and Visual Communications major.
Scott McDonald Memorial Scholarship
  1. Recipient must be enrolled in the School of Humanities, Arts & Social Sciences, majoring in Behavioral Science.
  2. Financial need will be given special consideration.
William W. Cobb, Jr. Peace, Justice and Conflict Resolution Scholarship
  1. Full- or part-time student in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Sciences.
  2. A minimum GPA of 3.0, although in extraordinary circumstances a GPA of 2.75 might be considered.
  3. Awards may be made based on application or nomination(although nominees must comply with college requirements).
  4. The final selection will be made by the Peace and Justice Executive Committee, and in its absence the Chair of the Committee on Interdisciplinary Studies, and in her/his absence the Chairs of History and Philosophy.
  5. The applicant will provide, as the major criterion for this award, written evidence of a personal and/or academic commitment to these items: [a] peace, justice, conflict resolution broadly defined, [b] the value of a higher education as an important basis for one’s participation in American democracy and a respect for global interdependence and understanding.
  6. Applications for the scholarship will be accepted each year according to the normal private-scholarship cycle: however, the current recipient may reapply for a second academic year.
Art Scholarship Guild Endowment Fund
  1. Scholarship for art majors.
  2. Students from Utah County will be given preference.
Cazier Annual Scholarship
  1. Student must be majoring in Political Science and History.
Deseret Morning News Scholarship
  1. Student must be a journalism and communications major.
Donner/Galbraith Memorial Scholarship
  1. Applicants must be enrolled or entering as a full-time student in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
  2. Applicants must submit a letter of recommendation from UVSC faculty, staff, high school teacher, advisor, or member of the community that indicates the applicant's involvement in social activism.
  3. Applicants must submit evidence of a personal history of social activism. This can be in the form of a personal statement. This evidence may also take other forms appropriate to the type of social involvement (e.g., video, artwork, etc.)
  4. The final selection of the scholarship award will be made by the Donner/Galbraith Memorial Scholarship Committee. This will be composed of Laura Hamblin, Dorice Galbraith, the Dean of HASS, one faculty member from the Department of Philosophy and one faculty member from the Department of English.
Mark Gallacher AFI Scholarship
  1. Students must be a full-time student at UVSC.
  2. Students must be an active member of the Ballroom Dance Team.
Oliver M. and Edna Elizabeth Hansen Endowed Scholarship Fund
  1. First priority will be given to recipients who are pursuing a degree in either fine arts or culinary arts.
  2. The award will alternate between years (culinary arts on odd years, fine arts on even years).
  3. Financial need must be clearly demonstrated.
Veonne Howlett Memorial Endowed Scholarship Fund
  1. Financial need must be clearly demonstrated.
  2. Students must be enrolled in School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
Humanities Scholarship Fund
  1. Students must be a UVSC continuing student.
  2. Students must be enrolled in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
Frances J. Kennedy Music Scholarship
  1. Scholarship goes to a female member of the UVSC orchestra who plays a string instrument.
KEOH Philosophy Scholarship
  1. Student must matriculate into Philosophy baccalaureate program.
  2. Applicants must write a letter of intent showing interest in Philosophy, qualifications, goals, etc.

Howard B. & Mary D Nelson Endowed Scholarship
  1. Recipient must be studying French as a second language.
  2. Recipient must be in his/her third or fourth year of studying French or participating in a French study abroad program.
Florence B. Ragan Theater Scholarship
  1. Scholarship for students enrolled in theater.
  2. Financial need must be clearly demonstrated.
  3. Partial scholarship.
Connie Reynolds Memorial Scholarship
  1. Student must be a member of Synergy Dance Company.
  2. Student may be part time or full time.
  3. Student must demonstrate need of financial support relative to their participation in Synergy Dance Company.
Talisman Endowed Scholarship
  1. Recipient must be a new incoming Freshman, transfer student, or continuing student enrolled in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences.
  2. Student must be enrolled and seeking a degree of higher education majoring in one of the "visual arts" disciplines.
  3. Annual scholarship award will be made to the eligible student upon successful portfolio review and selection by a department Talent Scholarship Committee as configured by the Chair of the Art & Visual Communications Department at Utah Valley State College.
UVSC Elder Quest Endowed Scholarship Fund
  1. Awarded to a non-traditional student majoring in the School of Humanities, Arts, and Social Science.
  2. Must be a full time student and have a 3.0 GPA.
  3. Application must include a one-page letter of intent with application.
  4. Partial scholarship
