  1. Read and follow the senior thesis policies and format and style guidelines.
    Copies are available to download and print,    or you may obtain a copy from your professor.
  2. Discuss possible research topic with a professor (contract faculty) who has expertise in the area you are intending to do research.

  6. Select two additional professors who agree to be on your thesis review committee.

  8. Prepare a research project proposal (see thesis guidelines and consult with your committee) and obtain approval of your committee.
  9. APPROVAL COMMITTEE SIGNATURE: _____________________________
  10. Make a copy of this sheet with above signatures and submit to Director of Undergraduate Studies (for Department records).
  11. Consult with your professor and register for appropriate number of Independent Studies (BIOL 495R)and/or Senior Thesis credits (BIOL 499R)
  12. Submit a written copy of the thesis to your professor and committee for review.
  13. Submit final copies (minimum 1 inch margins, printed one side) to each member of your committee and two unbound copies to the Department secretary or Director of Undergraduate Studies. The Department will arrange for these to be bound, one for the Department and one to be deposited in the UVSC Library.
  14. Obtain cover-sheet signatures from your thesis professor, committee members, and Department Chair or Director of Undergraduate Studies.
  15. Arrange to present an oral report on your thesis in the appropriate forum (e.g., Seminar BIOL 494R, in a course, an ad hoc public presentation, etc.).
