ENTERING APPRENTICE INFORMATION

Registration Requirements For New Apprentices

  1. Submit application for admission to college Administration Office (CHECK APPRENTICE (APPR) as your declared major).
  2. Complete the assessment test at the Assessment Center, call for appt. at 863-8481.
  3. Commitment by you to attend all class sessions, complete all homework assignments, complete all quizzes, and pass a comprehensive final examination for each class. Please make sure you are attending the class that you are registered for. This will alleviate any complications in receiving your grade.
  4. You must be working in the industry OR be working in the industry by the end of the first semester and you must have a commitment by your employer to see that you are available to attend class.

The above will need to be completed before you will be approved to register for an apprentice class. As such you are strongly advised to take care of these matters well in advance of the start of classes.

If you meet the above requirements and wish to register for apprenticeship classes contact the following office to schedule an interview. You must bring copy of assessment test or college transcript with you.


*Apprentice classes can not be taken for audit*

The following is a list of resources if you do not meet the minimum math registration requirements:

  • Math class for apprentices offered through the Apprenticeship office.
  • Learning Enrichment Center (LC 207, 863-8208). Developmental and remedial classes.
  • Services for Students (WB 145, 863-8404). Career guidance, counseling, vocational planning etc.
  • Stoddard Learning Lab at Mountainland Applied Technology Center (Geneva Rd, 863-7528)
Admission/Registration/Tuition

Every apprentice who has never attended UVU or has skipped a semester will need to fill out an application for admissions form. Those who have never attended before will be charged a $30.00 fee. Those who have attended before will not be charged again.

Registration can be done over the phone, on the Internet or in person at the registration office.

Tuition is $214.00 for most apprentices classes - Lineman classes are $243.50 a semester. Tuition can be paid at the Cashiers office located in the Administration Building or can be paid over the phone with credit card by calling: 863-8299 or 863-8298.

Books:
Estimated cost is $125.00 - $200.00. Please talk to you instructor the first night of class for books required for your course.
The Bookstore is located in the Student Center. The Bookstore hours are:
Monday - Friday
Wednesdays
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.
Parking:
The apprentice can obtain a parking decal by completing the parking form provided in the packet and returning this form with requested information to Parking Services office. You will need to provide along with completed decal form:
  1. Current copy of vehicle registration
  2. Emissions certificate if your vehicle is registered outside the state of Utah, Salt Lake, Weber, or Davis counties.
  3. $5.00 - cost of evening parking permit. (Daytime is more, you will need to check with Parking Services)
