Emergency Services -- Programs and Degrees

Fire Science

Five options are available:

  1. One-year Certificate,
  2. Associate in Applied Science Degree, Fire Science Major with a Fire Officer Specialization or a Firefighter/Paramedic Specialization or a Wildland Fire Management Specialization, -- The Associate of Science-Fire Science and Associate of Applied Science-Fire Science programs provide skill development and proficiency in three specialty areas: Fire Officer, Firefighter/Paramedic, and Wildland Firefighter. These specialties provide the skills necessary to obtain employment and function within the fire and emergency medical service delivery disciplines.
  3. Associate in Science --  The Associate of Science-Fire Science and Associate of Applied Science-Fire Science programs provide skill development and proficiency in three specialty areas: Fire Officer, Firefighter/Paramedic, and Wildland Firefighter. These specialties provide the skills necessary to obtain employment and function within the fire and emergency medical service delivery disciplines.
  4. Bachelor of Science Degree in Public Emergency Services Management - - The Bachelor of Science in Technology Management, Fire Science Specialty is imbedded in the Technology Management Department and focuses on technology management principles. Students are allowed to pick an area of specialty to focus their studies and enhance their management skills attainment.
  5. Bachelor of Science in Technology Management degree with a Technical Specialty in Fire Science.

FiremanPossible employers (in Utah) include: Salt Lake City, Unified Fire Authority, Web Fire District, Orem City, Provo City, Tooele Army Depot, Morton International, U.S. Forest Service, etc.
