Robot Rally Skills Challenge 2008

On May 12, 2008 25 Utah High School robotics teams will compete in the First Annual "Grand Robot Challenge." Representative teams from every corner and area of Utah were provided Lego Mindstorm NXT robot kits in December of 2007 and are now energetically engaged in building their rendition of the grand robot for the Spring competition.

Each student team consists of five official team members and an advisor. But each team is also supported by their "super think tank" squads of students which may be comprised of numerous students and advisors. Students teams will use the motors and mind of the robot kit to complete an obstacle course that features the necessary use of the robot's visual and audio sensors and programming mind and motors.

Winning student teams will be awarded cash and prizes. This year's competition is being held in conjunction with Utah Valley University's Technology Expo at the McKay Event Center.

High schools who did not make it through the application process for this year's competition are welcome to still come and attend the event.

High schools interested in competing in next year's (2009) Grand Robot Challenge should contact the Office of Student Involvement at 801-863-8682.
