(G.E.D.)
What is the GED Test?
The GED test is a test that assesses knowledge and academic skills that are usually developed in a four-year program of high school education. It provides adults with an opportunity to earn a certificate, equivalent to a high school diploma, which will enable them to advance and fulfill lifelong goals. The GED test is a battery of tests consisting of five comprehensive examinations – Math, Writing, Science, Social Studies, and Reading tests.
Who is eligible to take the GED?
The GED tests can only be administered to persons who:
- Are not currently enrolled in an accredited high school, have not graduated from an accredited high school, or have not received or qualified for a high-school level equivalency credential; and
- Are at least 17 years old (**Those who are between the ages of 17 and 18 must present Eligibility Documents before testing**)
**Eligibility Documents needed:
- A letter from your residing school district indicating that you are currently NOT enrolled in school; and
- A letter from your parent or legal guardian authorizing you to take this test; or
- A marriage certificate, if you are married.
When is the GED Test offered?
We offer the GED Test most Tuesdays at 8:30am. This schedule is subject to change at any time. For a more accurate testing schedule, please contact us at (801)863-8269 or at

How much does the GED Test cost?
The initial GED test costs $66. Retakes cost $12 per section, except for the Writing Section which is $18.
How can I study and study for the GED?
You may contact Mountainland Regional Learning Center at (801)863-7620. Fees may apply for their services.
How can I register to take the GED test?
Candidates will need to come into our office at least 24-hours prior to the scheduled test date to pre-register for the GED test. Seating is based on a first come, first serve basis. We have limited seats.
Candidates are required to bring the following at pre-registration:
- Current and Valid Photo I.D.
- Payment (We accept cash only)
- Required Eligibility Documents, if applied (see above)
- Proof of GED Registration **
**To speed the processing of your GED paperwork, we ask that you to fill out an online registration form prior to pre-registration. To do this, please do the following:
- Go to http://www.ged123.com/
- Under “New and Potential GED Students,” click Begin and follow the instructions given.
- At the completion of this process, please print out the Proof of GED Registration Form.
- Sign it, Date it and present it at the time of pre-registration.

What scores do I need in order to pass the GED?
In order to pass the GED test, you will need to score at least a 410 on each of the sections AND have an average score of at least a 450.
What if I don’t pass?
If you do not pass the GED test, you are allowed to retake each section twice within the calendar year. If you do not pass after your second retake, you will need to wait to re-test the next year. You may not retake any sections of the GED test unless you have completed the test to its entirety.
