ACT

ALL Students under the age of 21 are required to take the ACT or SAT Exam. 

• ACT scores must be at least a 19 in the Math, English and Reading sections. If students score below a 19 in these sections, they are required to take the NSA.
• Math scores are to be no older than 2 years and English 3 years.
• UVSC Testing Services offers the ACT Residual every Thursday at 8:30 am. It costs $35. All candidates must come into our office at least 24 hours in advance to pre-register. A valid government issued photo I.D. and your payment in cash is required at this time. For more, please see ACT Residual under Other Tests.

SAT

• SAT scores must be at least 500 in Verbal and 500 in Math
• Math scores are to be no older than 2 years and English 3 years.

Completed English Composition and Algebra, at another college/university with a C- or higher (verified by official college transcripts mailed directly from your previous institution to UVSC Admissions).

The Compass is required for ALL First-Time Students over the age of 21 who do not have current ACT/SAT scores.

• Math scores are to be no older than 2 years and English 3 years.
• Students with scores below 19 AND older than 3 years will be required to take the COMPASS English test and the DRP Reading test.
• UVSC Students: The Compass is given on a walk-in basis Monday-Friday during office hours, with the last test given out 2 hours prior to closing. Testers are required to bring a valid photo I.D. Retakes cost $10 per section.
• NON-UVSC Students: The Compass is offered by APPOINTMENT only. Please contact our Proctor Exam Center at (801)863-8544 to set an appointment. Appointments must be set at least 24 hours in advance. The Compass costs $50.00 for non-UVSC students. Testers are required to bring a valid photo identification.
