Tutorial Assistance
Besides the regular benefits to which veterans are entitled, the
Veterans' Office also provides for tutorial assistance. When necessary,
a veteran may request tutorial assistance for classes in which he/she
is experiencing difficulties.
Tutorial assistance is considered necessary in classes that the veteran
will not pass. The veteran must obtain the instructor's recommendation
that he/she requires a tutor's aid in order to receive a passing grade.
Tutorial benefits do not apply in cases where the student merely wishes
to raise his/her grade level.
Please contact the
UVSC Veterans Office to obtain the required paperwork needed to request tutorial assistance.
Tutoring Limits
- A tutor must be department approved and may not be a close relative of the student.
- Unreasonable hourly fees for tutors will not be accepted.
- The maximum tutoring limit is $1200 (VA pays $600, Veterans GI Bill Benefit pays $600).
- The maximum tutoring limit is not to exceed $100 per month.
Tutoring Reimbursement
The Veterans' Regional Office will reimburse the student for tutor's
fees after the proper forms have been submitted. (Note: The student usually pays the tutor at the time of services then is reimbursed by the VA.)
