UVSC VA Academic Standards
Probation/Suspension/Termination/Readmission

The Veterans' Office reviews the veteran's grades at the end of each semester. The veteran must maintain a GPA of 2.00, which is a letter grade of "C". Any veteran who receives a GPA below 2.00 for any given semester, will receive notice from the Veterans' Office that relates to one of the following situations:

If a student's most recent semester/term and/or cumulative GPA is below 2.00 a warning letter is sent from the Veterans' Office stating that GPA improvement must be made to continue receiving benefits. He/she must meet with an advisor from the Academic Advisement Center and develop a plan to improve academic performance.

If the cumulative GPA is below 2.00, the veteran must sign a
Statement of Intent form. A 2.00 GPA must be received in the following semester in order to continue receiving benefits.

A veteran's benefits are terminated for unsatisfactory progress and the student is subject to SUSPENSION from UVSC under either of the following two conditions:

A student is on warning for two consecutive semesters/terms.

A student with 13 total credits or more enrolled at UVSC has not maintained his/her cumulative GPA at or above the following minimum UVSC GPA warning levels:

Re-Certification after Termination Due to Lack of Progress
If, after being terminated for reasons described above, a veteran wishes to reapply for VA Educational Benefits, the following steps must be taken:

The veteran must meet with a therapeutic and career guidance counselor. The counselor will help the veteran decide if his/her chosen field is appropriate for his/her aptitudes and interests.

The veteran must submit a statement listing any circumstances that may have affected his/her academic progress at the time of termination, and then list how these circumstances have been changed.

Veterans Administration form 22-8873 must be completed. This form is entitled "Supplemental Information for Change of Program or Re-Admitted After Unsatisfactory Progress or Conduct." A letter of endorsement from the Veterans' Office may accompany this form.

The veteran must sign a statement acknowledging that he/she has been readmitted on a probationary basis.

When the veteran has been readmitted on a probationary basis, a GPA of 2.00 must be maintained.
