School of General Academics
Information for Veterans

Veterans who are receiving benefits under Chapters
30 ,
31,
32, and
35 are eligible to take up to 18 credits hours of
School of General Academics classes. These classes are taught as refresher courses for those who feel their current ability level is satisfactory. These classes generally have course numbers below the 100 level and are non-transferable.
School of General Academics classes relate to general education subjects such as math, reading, and English. Authorization to take these classes is generally limited to the first year in which Veteran benefits are used. These classes however, may be taken at any time after the first year at the expense of the veteran if authorization is denied.

Veterans who wish to take
General Academics classes during years other than their first year, must complete a Dual Major Request form. This form should be returned to the Veterans' Office. The Veterans' Certifying Official will sign this completed form and send it to the State Approving Agency, and the Utah State Board of Regents for final disposition. After final approval, the form is mailed to the Veterans' Office with verification of acceptance or denial.
