Janette Hales Beckham was appointed a member of the Utah Valley State College Board of Trustees August 2004.

Mrs. Beckham has extensive community and ecclesiastical service experience. She served for 5-l/2 years as the General President of the Young Women of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Prior to this calling, she was a counselor in the general presidency of the Young Women and earlier had been a member of the Primary General Board.

Community service has included being a member of the Utah State Legislature, president of the Utah County Medical Auxiliary, president of Provo Literary League, board member of Utah State Medical Auxiliary, BYU Cougar Club, Ridge Athletic Club, city PTA boards, and PTA president

She served as a member of the Board of Trustees of BYU and the Church Educational System. She was a member of the board of directors for Deseret Book Company and Deseret Gymnasium, represented the LDS church on the board of the National Coalition Against Pornography, and was on the advisory committee for BYU TV. She served for four years on the LDS Church Olympic Coordinating Committee.

She has a degree in Clothing and Textiles and Child Development from Brigham Young University. She and her late husband, Dr. Robert H. Hales are the parents of five children and fourteen grandchildren. She is now married to Raymond E. Beckham who added five children and nineteen grandchildren to her family.
